The English language underwent many changes at this time, it is assumed that this period begins from the year 1800 to the present. The dates of when this period begins may vary, but the differences that mark the time between Modern English and late Modern English are the pronunciation of certain words, grammar and spelling. This change was originated mainly by two important facts, the industrial revolution and the emergence of the British empire.

Industrial revolution and British Empire
The importance of these two historical events was more than anything because in the industrial revolution to be a time of innovation and technological development, it was also for the English language because they had to create new words for new ideas or inventions that were at the time and that they were totally new things that did not exist before. On the other side is the emergence of the British Empire, which thanks to its arrival in several countries the English language adopted new foreign words and adopted them in their language.

The industrial and scientific advances of the industrial revolution caused that new words will be invented and above all that many neologisms will be used to describe these inventions or creations. Many of these neologisms are of Latin or Greek origin. Many words originated from this event, such as protein, oxygen, electron, centigrade, chromosome, chronometer, etc.
As we can see most of the words created in these years are related to science and technology, all this for the development and innovation that took place in this era.
Also, many other words were created to name new processes, equipment and products such as, for example, piston, hydraulic, condenser, electricity, train, reserve, among others. But also, the old words were used to give a new definition and connotation to new words such as biology, taxonomy, etc.
Also, as I mentioned earlier another event that marked the language, it was and the emergence of the British Empire that in fact this movement could be said to have started from the 16th century, but in the 18th century it was when the British empire expanded more rapidly due to the technological advances that it had developed. By the 19th century, the British dominated ¼ of the earth's surface. The most important countries were Canada, Australia, Egypt and South Africa. The colonialism of the British Empire caused different words to adapt to their language, as in the case of Australia words such as boomerang, kangaroo, etc. were brought. Which were words that could not be used easily in the context of the British, but at least served as a reference to this country.
The British Empire was established in 1820 and by then a large number of Englishmen moved to this part of Africa, since here there was a lot of gold and diamonds. In South Africa the British took possession of the place overcoming the Afrikaans who had Dutch roots and also black people. According to the site The history of English In 1822 English was already the official language in much of Africa as in Australia. In addition, in 1961 South Africa became the only country that established an official academy to promote English as a language.

Differences in Language
Although the same language is spoken in both England and the USA, there are great differences in the way of speaking between these two countries, which is why different characters such as Thomas Jefferson or Noah Webster were convinced that American North American would change in such a way that it could be seen as if it were another language.
Noah Webster is recognized by his dictionary called: "The American Spelling Book" in this one could observe the differences in the words that were used in North America and in England as it was the case of color (in British English, color and honor were written ).
In addition to that he made recommendations of how it was that many of the words had to be said, so he made the way of speaking in this country change.
An event that gave birth to all this was the independence of the thirteen colonies, of the British empire, which impelled them to change to a more appropriate form and with the idea that it was their language appropriating the language and developing it until it reached what It is known as "American Standard English" which was a way of demonstrating that they were already a free and independent country.

By the end of the 19th century, the USA was already a world power, surpassing the United Kingdom. The USA grew rapidly economically and militarily. In addition to that he managed to have a lot of influence in the media and popular culture, which placed the USA as the country that would place English as the most important language in the world. In the 21st century it was a time where different events were experienced that caused English to take on greater importance in the world, as were the world wars and globalization.
Nowadays the English language continues to change and will continue to develop as it has been throughout history, as the years go by, the English language could take on greater strength or perhaps there could be some historical event that could change that, but as we have seen the languages are changing according to time and caused by different historical events and as we progress in both the technological development and the interaction between countries will need a neutral language that we can all master to communicate more easily.
